“History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes,”….this alleged quote from Mark Twain probably applies to Ancient Rome and the United States more than any other two major empires throughout history. Where applicable we will try to highlight the major similarities and differences between the two so that modern audiences can draw lessons.

It is impossible to not draw comparisons between these two vast Empires. The Founding Fathers patterned a lot of the early Constitution on lessons that they had learned from Polybius, Cicero, Sulla, Caesar, and others. America embodies a lot of the best and worst aspects of Rome.
